Festuca rubra commutata
Leeward
Leeward Chewings Fescue (DLFPS-FRC/3057) Festuca rubra ssp. commutata has overall turf quality and especially high marks for disease resistance. It performs well in traffic, heat, and shade. Leeward has superior performance at all mowing heights from fairways to no mow. With high levels of naturally occurring endophyte, Leeward will repel surface feeding insects, thereby reducing stress and vulnerability to disease. Leeward is designed to be used in mixtures, typically with other fine fescues, perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass. It has a rich green color that blends well and adds increased disease resistance and wear tolerance to the mix.
