Lolium perenne

Turf Type Perennial Ryegrass

Turf Type Perennial Ryegrass

Turf type perennial ryegrass is widely used as a component in lawn seed mixtures. It provides quick cover with its rapid germination. Additionally, perennial ryegrass leaves have strong fibers in them making them more tolerant to traffic. It is not recommended to grow this variety alone. Because it is a bunch type grass, it will not spread out over time and will eventually thin out if seeded as a pure stand. For the best results, it is best to plant turf type perennial ryegrass in a blend with Kentucky bluegrasses and fine fescues.
