Mandan Canada Wild Rye

Mandan Canada Wild Rye

Mandan Canada wild rye is a fast growing, short lived, perennial bunchgrass. It is quick to establish and is well adapted to the Upper Midwest and the Northern Great Plains. It performs well on a variety of soil types but grows best on sandy or gravelly, well-drained soils. While Canada wild rye can be planted in the early or late fall, for best results, wild rye should be planted in the spring. Its early growth and ability to excel in drier, disturbed soils, makes it an excellent choice for erosion control. Mandan Canada wild rye grows to heights of 24-48 inches and produces a brown seed head.
