Deer Creek's standard spring oats are a fast growing and affordable option for forage production, cover cropping or quick erosion control. Oats are a cool season crop that typically grow the best in the early spring or fall. With their quick growth, oats help suppress weeds, prevent erosion, add biomass, and scavenge for extra nutrients leftover from the previous crop. They are also used as an emergency forage crop. The variety of this oat may change throughout the season or from year-to-year. For this reason, it may be better suited to hobby farmers, hunters, or those producers who are not concerned with variety. We offer other certified oat varieties for those producers concerned with varietal consistency. Contains 1.5 bushel per bag.
