Dacotah Switchgrass

Dacotah Switchgrass

Dacotah switchgrass is a perennial, warm season native grass known for its superior winter hardiness and drought tolerance. Compared to other switchgrass varieties, its short stature and fine leaves and stems characterize it as a northern ecotype. Dacotah grows 3-4 feet tall, and has a much earlier maturity than other cultivars. Because it reaches maturity sooner, it is a consistent seed producer which helps maintain productive stands and provides an excellent feed for birds in wildlife plantings. With its thick growth and shorter height, it also provides the perfect cover for bird species and other wildlife.
