Lone Star State Hosts PGA Events on DLF Grass

For the next two weeks, the PGA TOUR will be playing on turf supplied by DLF. Both tournaments will be aired on NBC and the Golf Channel.

Texas Children’s Houston Open - March 28-31

Memorial Park Golf Course

Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston was renovated in 2019 to bring it up to PGA TOUR standards. Now it’s one of the best municipal golf courses in the nation.

However, PGA agronomists were concerned about the playing conditions for this year's tournament when the timing of the event was moved to March, because they knew their semi-dormant warm season grasses would be difficult to work with in late winter.

After years of success with DLF overseeding at high-level tournaments, they worked with our team of agronomists to develop a seeding program that would produce the tournament-quality turf they were looking for.

They planted Saber 3 Poa Trivialis on the greens and Champion Fine Mix (80% Perennial Ryegrass and 20% Chewings Fescue) on the tees and fairways. The mix included varieties SR4650, SR4700, Fiesta Cinco, and Longfellow 3.

Valero Texas Open - April 4-7

TPC San Antonio – The Oaks Course

With its canopy of native oak trees and prevalence of native grasses and plants, The Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio offers a more natural look and feel than PGA TOUR players are accustomed to.

Since 2017, the TPC agronomy team has used DLF products to overseed the course in preparation for the early spring tournament. The course's Director of Agronomy, Roby Robertson, was familiar with our overseed grasses after working with them at TPC Scottsdale.

Like Memorial Park, he planted Saber 3 Poa Trivialis on the greens and Champion Fine Mix on the tees and fairways.
