AFX 670 Hi-Gest Alfalfa is a premium variety designed for high yield potential, leveraging Hi-Gest Alfalfa Technology suitable for regions with fall dormancy ratings of 4-5. It boasts improved fiber digestibility and superior animal performance compared to other alfalfa varieties. This adaptable alfalfa variety thrives in aggressive high-quality production systems as well as more relaxed high-yield practices, with no known limitations on soil type.
Hi-Gest® alfalfa is conventionally bred for enhanced fiber digestibility and forage quality, resulting in improved animal intake and increased milk or meat production. The elite genetics include a high leaf-to-stem ratio, more crude protein, and added flexibility on the farm as growers can choose to delay harvest and increase yield potential without sacrificing quality.
Hi-Salt® alfalfa varieties were developed for high saline areas in North America, as higher salt concentrations in the soil can lead to seedling loss. Through focused breeding, these varieties are able to mitigate the effects by reducing salinity by 2.0 to 3.0 EC (electrical conductivity) points. This cutting-edge technology allows growers to plant alfalfa in areas previously considered unsuitable.
