Medium Red Clover

Medium red clover is a popular legume crop grown for forage, cover cropping, and wildlife food plot plantings. This species is grown as short-lived perennial (3-5 years) in the north and as a winter annual in the south. Medium red clover is sometimes referred to as a multi-cut clover because it can be cut once in its seeding year and twice in the following years due to its quick regrowth. As a cover crop, it produces a moderate amount of nitrogen, helps suppress weeds, and is considered a good soil builder. With its lower seed costs, easier establishment, and greater adaptability than alfalfa, it is commonly used in pastures and hay production across the United States. Medium red clover can also be planted as an insectary crop to attract pollinators of all kinds. This seed has a protective coating and comes pre-inoculated with rhizobacteria.
