Texas Bluebonnets
Texas Bluebonnets, a native annual legume, are the most well-known native wildflower in Texas. Plants grow 1-2 in height with showy blue flowers with white centers and grow well in all soils except very loose sands. They thrive on nutrient-poor soils, along roadsides, and in pastures. In addition to their iconic displays of showy blooms, Texas bluebonnets are excellent pollinator plants, particularly for honeybees. Quail and other birds eat seeds; deer, cattle, sheep, and goats will graze the foliage and flowers.
