BRASSICA CARINATA

Ethiopian Cabbage

Ethiopian Cabbage

Ethiopian Cabbage is a multipurpose brassica cultivar bred for use in biofumigation systems because of its glucosinilate compounds. However, it has proven to be valuable in other systems such as cover cropping and grazing. When spring planted in continental climates, Ethiopian Cabbage germinates quickly and grows to maturity within 40 days. When summer and fall planted on the west coast, Ethiopian Cabbage is relatively drought and heat tolerant. It will produce significant cool season quality and biomass in warm summer conditions.
